There is a place for you in our Goose Creek Choirs!
Our department offers two non-auditioned courses for students who are interested in learning more about choral music. When offered (subject to availability as determined by school administration), these courses are one semester long, and serve to prepare students for further choral participation if desired.
These elective courses generally cover healthy vocal technique and development, elements of music history, and focus on core musicianship skills. Students will perform in concert twice (each semester). Students may take an elective choral course again with approval from Mrs. Bohl, but these courses are not designed to be repeated.
Students who take an elective choir are not required to continue their choral participation. Students who successfully complete an elective choir course are still required to audition for placement into Chamber Choir or Sziréndal.
Goose Creek Voices is a semester-long preparatory treble course. GCV is typically offered in the fall. Students who successfully complete a semester in Goose Creek Voices will have the option to audition for placement into an honors ensemble in the following semester or school year.
Gator Chorale is a semester-long preparatory course for low voices (tenor + bass). Gator Chorale is typically offered in the spring. Students who successfully complete a semester in Gator Chorale will have the option to audition for placement into Chamber Choir in the following school year. This ensemble generally competes in SCMEA Choral Performance Assessment, receiving Superior Performance ratings from all judges in March 2024.
